Technology is evolving fast. In the last 50 years alone, computers are now 1 trillion times more powerful. To put this in perspective, one trillion sheets of paper stacked one on top of each other is enough to go from Earth to the International Space Station and back again… 125 TIMES !!
The first red flag that we have to consider is the fact that we become more and more reliant on the technology we use and this may not be so great because from the point of view of genetics, what we don’t use will be slowly taken away from us. We may not realize but another way technology is taking over is the fact that one smartphone can keep its user entertained on demand for hours on end, something a human being can not do. The point I am trying to make is the fact that our brains may become weaker because we no longer use them as much and we also become less interesting 🙂
Artificial Intelligence 2020
As humans, we are starting to reach limitations in terms of speed, endurance, task accomplishing abilities and more. The truth is that we, as human beings are evolving more slowly than the technology we produce so in the future I believe that we will be seeing more and more of technology and artificial intelligence replacing humans. It started in the factories with automation lines and it will probably evolve into more and more niches such as sports, ImIagine Ai powered robots fighting to the death instead of boxing matches and also being able to have this experience through VR headsets
Even without artificial intelligence, technology is making its way into sports 🙂
Now Imagine the robots in the video 10x bigger and Ai and programmed to destroy one another 🙂
At this moment there are hundreds of companies trying to make their Ai faster and smarter in many as ways as possible. But will we be able to keep up with it?
Have a look at this video from OpenAi.
Ai was the ability to learn for itself and that is far more powerful than any kind of programming because as the machine learning evolves it will act in ways that are not yet predictble. Even if you program the Ai to obey certain rules it may at one point override itself. Think about errors on a computer screen, they may be less and less frequent but they are still present, inside a computer, can be harmless but inside a powerful Ai system, the scenario could be totally different.
The danger comes from the fact that you cannot program Emotion into Artificial Intelligence, Emotion is what makes us human and intelligence is only one characteristic of being human. Artificial Intelligence is learning more and more but are we giving it the right information?
If artificial intelligence will be integrated with humans this means that we will have more power than ever and the way we will use this power will tell a definitive answer to the question – Are we evolved enough to handle Ai and it’s capabilities? As with everything there is a lot of good and also a lot of bad potentials but this time we, humans may not be the ones who define what “good” and “bad” mean.
